         Minutes, Check Pilots Meeting—ODO

Check Pilots meeting was held by TRARON Lead Col. Skipper Hyle at ODO

Attending:

Skipper Hyle, Jim Munn, Mike Burk, Mike Anderson, Bill Powers, Randy Wilson, Stan Musick

Doug Matthews, Morris Ray, John Lohmar, Mark Matye

Col. Mike Anderson has received a waiver from FAST because of not being a CFI and is now a CAF TRARON Formation Check Pilot.

Col. Hyle announced that the T-34 Manual is out of print. A new FAST Manual is in progress and will be published.

The Sport Class Racing Association has been added as a Fast Signatory.

FAST is tending toward Practical Test Standard type evaluation, similar to the FAA.

Currently the Commercial Pilot requirement for Lead Pilot is to be removed.

The FAST Board removed the requirement for a Check Pilot Applicant to take a check ride.

After considerable discussion, it was decided that although TRARON requirements had to meet the minimum standard of FAST, TRARON could require higher standards.

CAF TRARON recommends that for TRARON cards.

1. Lead Pilots be required to take a check ride.

2. Lead Pilots be required to have a Commercial Pilots license or ATP.

3. Check Pilots be required to have CFI, have been Airline check Airman, or have Military Instructors Pilot experience.

Col. Hyle distributed a proposed Applicant Grade Book Folder, to be carried by each candidate for a formation rating. This would provide much needed continuity from instructor to instructor, clinic to clinic. It was unanimously and enthusiastically approved.

The Airman (Vernon Ricks Organization) which is not a FAST Signatory, has been approved by the FAA to issue formation cards.

Check Airman are required to keep current (Lead Qualified) and attend a Check Pilot’s meeting every 2 years.

It was recommended unanimously that Bomber Formation Pilots have the basic formation training skills required for a wing card.

Respectfully Submitted:

Col. Morris W. Ray 28064.
