Dear
Traron Pilots,
I just had some good news from the left coast.
The folks at the Inland Empire Wing at
Riverside, CA just e-mailed me to say that they had decided to hold a
formation clinic right after the first of the year.
Last year, their clinic got canceled due to bad
weather and an attempt to reschedule to a date later in the spring was
not successful.
The dates for the clinic will be January 21-23,
2011.
There is usually a good ground school for newbies and
potential lead candidates on Friday evening followed by all the flying
that can be squeezed into Saturday and Sunday.
The Riverside clinics have always been great fun
and it is always accompanied by great food and wonderful camaraderie.
These folks know how to treat people and they
run a fantastic event. They
are always very well organized and there are always a good number of CAF
marshallers on
hand to keep things safe on the ramp.
Plan on
attending and remember to bring your buddies from other organizations.
People no longer have to be CAF members to
attend our clinics.
They do need to name the CAF and its associated
parts as additional insured on their aircraft insurance but that doesn’t
cost them anything.
This will be a great opportunity to get the new
year off to a great start and get a leg up on formation practice for the
upcoming season.
It is also a good chance to get your currency up
to date if you didn’t get it done in 2010.
Your contact for this clinic will be Terry
Freedman.
His e-mail address is
ryan48777@yahoo.com
and his cell phone is 909-239-1868.
Get in touch with Terry right away to get signed
up for the weekend.
The next item of business at this time is to introduce
you all to the new Traron Lead for 2011.
When I accepted the leadership role for Traron
back in 2008, I agreed to accept the post for a period of two years and
that time is now up.
It has gone by quickly, but it has gone by.
Recently, a nominating committee made up of your
sitting officers and two previous Traron Leads were tasked with
providing Bob Stenevik and Steve Brown with a list of possible new lead
candidates.
A number of possible candidates were suggested
and queried and the final choice was Morris Ray of Memphis.
Most of you already know Morris since he has
been a constant supporter of Traron and the FAST committee for many
years.
I know that Morris will be able to carry on the
traditions of Traron and uphold the high standards of formation training
in our organization as we move forward into the new decade.
I have worked with Morris for many years and I
have the greatest respect for his skills as a formation pilot and
teacher.
I will offer Morris all of my support and I hope that all
of you will do the same.
I have enjoyed being the standard bearer for
Traron for a total of 7 years now and I really appreciate all the
support and the contributions that all of you have made during that
time.
We have a great organization and I look forward to a
great deal more success in the future.
You are all the reason that Traron has been
successful.
It is because of your unselfish willingness to
show up and help in any way that you can to train the new crop of
formation pilots.
Without your help, Traron and your leaders would
accomplish nothing so keep up the good work.
